Peter Cook said his ex-wife, Christie Brinkley, was responsible for the fact that he cheated on her. During an interview with Barbara Walters, Cook said that his ex-, supermodel wife did not provide him with the emotional support he needed in a relationship.
"I was seeking a connection I could not find in my own marriage," Cook told Walters during the interview set to air Friday at 10 p.m. on ABC's "20/20."
Cook talked about how desperate he was for some acknowledgement for his efforts he made for the family and marriage.
“A little thank-you every now and then for my efforts, for the amount of time I took to care for her and my family, for the wealth I was building,” was what cook did not find in his marriage to Brinkley.
Cook and Brinkley tied the knot in 1996, but after ten years broke up after Cook’s affair with 18-year-old office worker Diana Bianchi surfaced. He paid off Bianchi $300,000 to keep her mouth shut, but the then-teen testified in court anyway. What a waste of money...
Cook said that, by the time he was involved in the extra-marital relationship with Bianchi, he and his then-wife were more like brother and sister. He said he felt like he was “a guest in someone else's life.”
Cook said he talked about his divorce from Brinkley because he wanted to clear his name after the thrashing he took during the trial. Besides being labeled as a cheater, Cook also got ridiculed for masturbating in front of a Web cam and for paying about $3,000 a month in Internet porn charges.
"My hope is that the world will see that I'm not the scumbag pervert that I've been painted to be," he told Walters.
Cook was Brinkley’s fourth husband. The supermodel kept quiet about her fourth divorce, her lawyer Robert Cohen told The New York Daily News.
