The famous Opera singer Luciano Pavarotti was brought to hospital in the northern Italian city of Modena. According to the Italian press agency ANSA, Pavarotti was admitted with a lung infection.

Pavarotti began suffering from breathing difficulties while on holiday with his wife Nicoletta Mantovani and their daughter Alice near Pesaro on the Adriatic coast, ANSA added.

Modena Polyclinic spokesman Alberto Greco confirmed for BBC the 71-year-old tenor had been admitted, but declined to comment about his treatment

Pavarotti was diagnosed with malignant pancreatic tumor in July 2006 during his farewell tour in New York. Soon after he underwent an operation to remove the pancreatic tumor and that forced him to cancel the farewell tour.

Since then Pavarotti has not been seen in public, but in July this year, the Italian media reported that he is closed to death, but the famous tenor strongly denied rumors, claiming he is getting better.

Also Pavarotti's manager Terri Robinson confirmed that the famous tenor is recovering well and he revealed that Pavarotti is recording a new album that will be released next year.
