Paul Newman left this world at the age of 83, after a long
battle with cancer. He left behind his loving wife, actress Joanne Woodward,
his three children, thousands of mourning fans and a film world which will
never be the same again.
The actor will forever remain in our hearts, with his
mesmerizing smile and hypnotizing blue eyes. Married for over 50 years with
Joanne Woodward, he was once asked if he cheated on his wife. The answer is a
piece of Hollywood history: “Why go out for hamburger
when you have steak at home?” Although proof of his fidelity, loyalty and
integrity, Joanne supposedly hated the metaphor used by her husband.
Beside him being a wonderful person with a charming
personality and stunning good looks, Paul Newman will forever be remembered as
a cardinal part of cinematography. He was part of a famous trio of actors who
hit Hollywood
in the 19650’s and were clearly there to stay: Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and
James Dean.
Paul Newman had an extremely successful career, and critics
say some movies would have gone straight to video without his brilliant
performance. He starred in productions such as: “Somebody Up There Likes Me” (a
role which was supposed to be James Dean’s, but the actor died in a car crash
before the movie started filming), “The Long, Hot Summer”, “The Left Handed Gun”
(where he masterfully played Billy The Kid), “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “Exodus”,
“Paris Blues”, “Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid”, “Twilight” or the more recent
Road to Perdition.
These are just a few of the 81 movies he starred in, 10
movies he produced, 6 movies he directed, 3 movies he wrote, made the
soundtrack for and one movie he wrote the screenplay for.
We send our prayers and good thoughts to the actor’s family
and wish them all the best in the world.
