Patriots Pass the Test and Beat the Cowboys

Tom Brady threw five scoring passes as he led the New England Patriots to a 48-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Brady managed to get his career high touch-down passes in a game between one of the three remaining undefeated teams in the NFL. The Patriots and Indianapolis Colts are now the only unbeaten teams in the league.

Brady, who was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, assisted Randy Moss, Kyle Brady, Donte Stallworth and twice Wes Welker with scoring passes and completed 31 of 46 passes for 388 yards to give the Patriots their sixth win in a row and hand the Cowboys their first loss of the season.

"I've always been a fan of Tom Brady," Moss says. "If Peyton Manning has his receivers, why can't Tom have his? Now that Tom has his, we'll see."

The former Michigan quarterback is the first NFL QB to throw for at least three touchdowns in each of his team's first six games. He led the Patriots to overcame the second- half deficit and score 17 straight points in the third and fourth quarters in Dallas.

"We really made the plays when we needed to. Down four in the third quarter, we responded and made some great plays,'' said Brady at the press conference after the game.

The Patriots are 6-0 and are averaging 38.3 points per game. Stallworth finished with seven catches for 136 yards, Welker caught 11 passes for 124 yards and Moss had six receptions for 59 yards.

"Tom does a great job of getting the ball to the open guy," Patriots coach Bill Belechick said.

The Patriots were 21 to 10 late in the second quarter after Wes Welker's caught his second touch down pass. Then Dallas rallied as quarterback Tony Romo hit Terrell Owens with a 12-yard touchdown pass with 46 seconds left in the half to close the gap to 21-17.

Then Romo threw the ball to Patrick Crayton for an eight-yard score and a 24-21 Dallas lead with 10:20 to go in the third quarter. But New England soon took the lead again as a 1-yard Tom Brady to Kyle Brady pass play made it 28-24. Stephen Gostkowski's 45-yard field goal made it 31-24 before Stallworth sealed the win.
