It is a known fact that Patrick Swayze has been fighting with pancreatic cancer for quite some time now. The star from “Dirty Dancing” has tried to hide the disease since it was diagnosed back in January 2008, yet it was already obvious that his health was in poor condition.

 

From the diagnosing, Swayze dropped over 20 pounds in a very short period of time. The pain in his stomach was more than bothersome. After a short while, doctors examined him and discovered that the actor had a malignant tumor in his midsection and another potentially cancerous mass on his liver.

 

Over the following days, Swayze was subjected to a staggering amount of tests. The doctors reached the conclusion that Patrick Swayze was suffering from Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The prognosis was anything but good – the disease, especially this advanced, was usually fatal in up to 6 months.

 

Unfortunately for Swayze, surgery was not an option, as the cancer had already spread to his liver. However, Patrick Swayze was determined not to give up fighting for his life. Consequently, he agreed to put himself through an especially aggressive treatment with chemotherapy, and, in addition, he tested the experimental drug Vatalanib. Fortunately, Patrick Swayze’s body responded well to the aggressive treatment, and Swayze even took a new acting job. He fought through the pain, missed less than 2 days of work and put in over 12 hours of work daily.
