A&E made great plans to promote its new drama "The Beast," set for a debut on the 15th of January but the movie’s star, Patrick Swayze was suddenly hospitalized for pneumonia to a Los Angeles hospital on Friday, hours before he was scheduled to appear at the Television Critics Association press tour. The actor's spokeswoman, Annett Wolf, confirmed the fact that Swayze was in hospital but would not provide further details.
56-year-old Swayze was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, early last year, after he had shot the pilot for “The Beast” and last month denied US tabloid reports that he was close to death, saying he was winning the fight against cancer. On the movie Swayze plays a tough FBI veteran named Charles Barker. The show's panel session went on without him on his request. Producers told the public what it was like to work with the actor and detailed how his cancer has affected - and, more often, not affected - the production. They also said they learned about his condition only four hours after hearing that A&E picked up their show to series. Everybody thought he must be completely out of his mind to shoot the new detective series while undergoing such a rigorous and experimental treatment without painkillers. The production for the first 13-episode season of “The Beast” was finished in November in Chicago. Producers remain confident that Swayze will be back to shoot another.
In earlier reports, Swayze denied for People magazine the fact that the cancer had spread to his liver by saying that "Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed I knew I was in for the fight of my life.” As a pilot, he often flies to Stanford with his wife where he gets treatment from for months.
Fasting can be part of beating cancer, but not so much because it starves the cancer cells. Fasting actually helps the body eliminate toxins and waste and helps it regain proper balance. Generally, a proper nutrition may be the key to beating cancer, because it is essential to build and maintain a strong immune system. Moreover, having a positive mental attitude as Patrick Swayze appears to have, fasting, proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle may all put an end to his struggle. They also enable the body to protect itself in the future. Herbs and other supplements can provide natural help in order to make the body restore itself and do what it was intended to do in the first place.
Just two days before checking himself into the hospital for pneumonia, Patrick Swayze told Barbara Walters during an ABC interview that he has been going through hell this past year and he also seemed to be perfectly aware of the fact that he has only seen the beginning of it. Nevertheless, the actor remains undaunted. Millions of people tuned in to watch the interview presenting a man fighting his condition with mind, body and soul. It was wonderful to see the actor so fired up and hopeful and not taking his cancer as a death sentence. Swayze has also placed his faith and life in the hands of mainstream medicine.
The actor stated that he has not lost hope of a future and of a long and healthy life without being threatened by cancer. During his interview he also added that he is not going to chase staying alive, because that is precisely why you never make it.
