Parminder Nagra, the "ER" star and her longtime boyfriend, photographer James Stenson, tied the knot Saturday afternoon, January 17 in Hollywood. The English actress, 33, and Stenson, 34, have been dating for seven years.
They're expecting their first child together this summer and live in Los Angeles together. "We are thrilled and overjoyed at the prospect of becoming first time parents," Nagra said. “ER” will end its 15 season run shortly before the baby arrives and Nagra is keeping her post baby work options open: "I feel like I will want to work, but who knows what I'll feel like when the baby arrives."
The couple held an intimate, traditional Sikh ceremony, called "Anand Karaj" (which means "blissful union") before close family and friends.
With the departure of Maura Tierney, Nagra is currently the most senior regular cast member on "ER." She plays Dr. Neela Rasgotra, a surgical resident who has had previous romantic relationships with the characters played by Shane West and John Stamos, among others. Fortunately it seems she succeeded in tying the knot in her real life.
Although she was fast becoming a star on the stages of London, it was 2002's surprise blockbuster “Bend It Like Beckham,” Nagra's first film, that turned her into an international celebrity almost overnight. The film was directed by Gurinder Chadha, a British film director also of Indian descent. It starred Nagra, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Anupam Kher, Shaheen Khan, and Keira Knightley, for whom this film was also a career breakthrough.
