Lindsay Lohan’s life appears to be slowly getting back on a safer track – she has been in a rehabilitation facility for some two months already and her relationship with her father seems to be mending as well.
Young actress Lindsay Lohan has been at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah since August 3 and she is apparently in no hurry to leave the facility and return to Hollywood.
People.com reports that she will be staying there a little while more and spend the rest of this week with her estranged father, Michael Lohan. The two are set to relocate to a secluded lodge in the Utah mountains on Tuesday, and stay there for five days.
Dina Lohan sent an e-mail to People.com, saying, “It can only help her recovery. It's time to mend.”
Lindsay does not come from the most harmonious of families. Her parents’ divorce became official in late August, and while the terms of the divorce agreement were not disclosed, it is known that Dina Lohan has custody of the couple's two minor children, Aliana, 13, and Dakota, 10.
The couple’s other two children, Lindsay, 21, and her brother Michael, 19, were not involved in the divorce, as they are no longer minors.
The divorce came after some troublesome years for the whole family, considering Michael’s trouble with the law. He was charged with drunken driving a couple of years back and sentenced to jail time. And it wasn’t even his first time behind the bars.
He did sound optimistic when the divorce was finalized and expressed hope that the future would be better. “I wish Dina the best and I hope we can both move forward and put our best foot forward for the kids' sake and just be good parents.”
Dina herself told People.com in the e-mail: “He is visiting Lindsay alone because we are giving her dad a chance to make amends.”
This would be the second time that Lindsay and her father are reunited in Utah, after his first visit in early September. It was reportedly an emotional reunion for both and Michael called it “amazing.”
He has been outspoken about Lindsay’s troubles and recognizes in his daughter the same pattern he experienced before serving two years in prison for DUI and other charges. He has said numerous times that Lindsay needs help to get through this.
People.com also reports that Lindsay will not leave rehab any time soon, but may complete her court-mandated 10 days of community service. Dina said last week that Lindsay would spend a few more weeks at the Cirque Lodge rehabilitation clinic in Utah.
