“Sex and the City” may be over, but another movie brings
four different girls and their pair of pants to the center of attention. Bridget,
the soccer chick, Lena,
the timid and beautiful, Carmen, the drama queen, and Tibby,
the rebel, are one step closer to maturity in “The Sisterhood of the Travelling
Pants 2.”
The Warner Bros. catchy sequel maintains much of the glitter
and coziness that made the original an agreeable and appealing production. Due
to be released on August 6, the movie stars four well-known lovable actresses: America
Ferrera, famous for her “Ugly Betty” persona, Amber
Tamblyn, who has also played in “The Ring” and “The Grudge 2”, Alexis
Bledel, the teen half of the “Gilmore Girls” and “Gossip Girl” Blake
Lively.
With such a popular cast and a girlish plot, the movie will
surely not disappoint those of us who are looking for a more appropriate summer
fling rather than the recent box-office-conquering blockbusters.
Finding its four central characters a bit older and more
prudent, the sequel describes the girls’ way to maturity. While Carmen (America
Ferrera) is at a theatre festival in Vermont
and draws all attention, Lena (Alexis Bledel) recovers
from her unfortunate Greek romance by attending a life drawing class at the
Rhode Island School of Design, where she winds up having her own designs on the
model.
Blake Lively’s Bridget forms a new viewpoint regarding her uneasy
family past by joining an archaeological dig in Turkey
and Tibby (Amber Tamblyn) stays in New York,
although her relationship with Brian McBrian (Leonardo Lam) is getting more
difficult each day.
Sanaa Hamri, the film’s director, knew exactly what she had
to do with the characters in order to point out both their progress and their
usual lifestyles fans got so used to.
Four young girls, four types and four adventures. A 4-in-one
cocktail for a hot day. Oh, and let us not forget the travelling jeans.
