On Monday, during a New York City press conference, Panasonic presented its audience with several new digital cameras and camcorders.
Following the great success of the DMC-LX2, Panasonic presented its new LUMIX DMC-LX3 digital camera. The new model comes with a F2.0 24mm LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens, 1/1.63-inch CCD and 10.1 megapixels. The LX3 includes the Venus Engine IV, which brings a more efficient signal processing technology that helps users create high-quality images with significantly reduced noise. With the new Image Leveling feature, pictures that were taken while holding the camera a bit crookedly, can now be corrected. The DMC-LX3 can also record High Definition (HD) clips in 1280 x 720p at 24fps.
During the same conference, two new high-definition camcorders were shown for the very first time. Both the SD100 and the HS100 can shoot video at 1080p and record onto SD memory cards. The two feature a 12X Leica Dicomar lens and the new 3MOS sensors. The SD100 will be made available in September for $1,099.95 and the 60GB hard drive-packing HS100 will retail for $1,299.95.
Panasonic also unveiled two point-and-shoot still cameras: the DMC-FX150, bringing photographers 14.7-megapixels, and the 10.1-megapixel DMC-FX37 model. Both versions feature an Intelligent Auto setting, which helps users adjust exposure, ISO settings, focus, red-eye removal and image stabilization. The FX150 has a 28-mm wide-angle lens and a 2.7-inch LCD screen. The FX37 comes with a 25mm ultra wide-angle lens and a 2.5-inch display. The FX150 will be launched in August for the price of $399.95 and the FX37 will hit stores sometime in September and will be made available for $349.95.
