Palestinian Slams Bulldozer into Bus in Jerusalem Killing 3

At least three people were killed and many more were injured on Wednesday in Jerusalem when a Palestinian rammed a bulldozer into an Israeli commuter bus. The Palestinian also slammed the bulldozer in the cars and pedestrians on one of Jerusalem's busiest streets.

Israeli police intervened promptly and shot dead the Palestinian at the wheel of the bulldozer. Police personnel and a soldier climbed on the large highway construction vehicle and gunned down the driver.

The bulldozer was pursued by several men after the attack on the commuter bus. Some of the killer’s pursuers crowded into the cab, where a struggle followed.

"A bulldozer driven by an Arab went on a rampage on Jaffa Road, hitting pedestrians, buses and cars," said police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby according to Reuters.

At least three people died in the attack and about 30 were severely injured by the bulldozer, said the Zaka emergency service. Things took the wrong turn when the Palestinian man drove the bulldozer along the busy Jaffa Road in west Jerusalem and hit the commuter bus and at least one car. At least three other vehicles appeared to sustain damage. The attack caused chaos in downtown Jerusalem as traffic has been halted and hundreds of people fled through Jerusalem’s streets in panic.

A state of emergency has been called in Jerusalem said the Israeli radio.

Police identified the driver as a Palestinian living in Arab East Jerusalem. He had been working at the light rail system along the busy Jaffa Road. .

This is the first Arab attack in Jewish Jerusalem since March when a gunman killed eight students in a religious school located in the historic city.

"We do not expect it will influence the Gaza calm," said Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri.

"There is a continued aggression against our people in the West Bank and Jerusalem and so it is natural that our people there will respond to such aggression."

Israeli police didn’t say anything about a reason or claim of responsibility regarding the attack.
