Tuesday, a Pakistan
air force truck was hit by a bomb, leaving around 13 dead people, including a
5-year-old girl. According to the Associated Press, a roadside bomb hit the truck
which was located in a northwestern city.
Pakistani officials informed that they were investigating if
a militant who was killed in the clashes in a close tribal region was a senior
al-Qaida commander. According to Reuters, the Tuesday attack was claimed by the
Taliban. Officials informed that another 10 were wounded in the blast.
This attack came after days of fighting between militants
and security forces from the Bajaur region, an important location north of Peshawar. About 150
militant were killed.
“We warned that if they didn't stop killing our people ... we
would strike back and we did,” Taliban spokesman Maulvi Omar told Reuters by
telephone, keeping secret his location, adding that they would go on with the
attacks until security forces stop the attacks against the militants.
The bombing happened when the vehicle was crossing a bridge,
being on its way to Peshawar.
Reuters reported that the bomb left a hole in the bridge. According to police
chief Malik Naveed Khan, five air force personnel and eight civilians were
killed in the bomb attack.
