Rescue teams have ended their search for the divers lost around the Great Barrier Reef in Australia with success. After floating adrift in shark infested waters, the two divers were pulled out on Saturday by Australian rescue workers.
The divers became separated from their charter boat when they were diving off the Whitsunday Islands a day earlier. The pair, a British man and an American woman, spent 20 hours adrift.
Authorities said they were spotted by a helicopter about 13km from their original dive site.
The helicopter took them to safety. The two divers were taken to a hospital to receive treatment because they were suffering from mild exposure.
The rescue crew members said the two divers were very lucky to make it alive from the dangerous waters there were into.
"If I was them I'd be getting out the $30m dollar lotto ticket tonight," said Philip Dowler, a RACQ Rescue helicopter spokesman, according to Aljazera.net.
The pair reportedly used their weight belts to strap themselves together and waited for the rescue team to help them.
However, it wasn’t just luck. The two are till alive because they made some very good decisions during the 20 hours adrift, said Shane Chelepy, of the Queensland water police.
