When gunshots rang out at an Atlanta party hosted by Jermaine Dupri and Sean "Diddy" Combs all the attending celebrities fled to the building’s exits. P. Diddy, Nelly and Usher ran for their lives and fortunately, the only victim of the gunfire was a security guard who suffered minor injuries when his arm was grazed by a bullet.
The glamorous party was held at Club Dreams in Georgia on Friday night and marked the start of Dupri's third annual So So Def Summerfest Weekend. About 3,000 people attended the party and among them there were celebrities such as Usher, Nelly, Gabrielle Union, Regina King and Larenz Tate.
The celebration was ruined at about 3:30 a.m. when apparently some guests were irritated by the fact that they had to pay an extra fee by security to enter the VIP section. According to DeKalb County police spokesman Marcus Hodge, a male patron pulled out a gun and opened fire after he had been escorted out of the club. Police personnel arrived at the scene as soon as possible. The officers emptied the location but made no arrests.
"I'm sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I'm happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues," Jermaine Dupri, Janet Jackson's boyfriend, told People.
The security guard who was wounded was rushed to the nearest hospital where he was treated and released shortly afterwards.
The shooter’s identity hasn’t been established yet.
