An hour after the release of the new PS3 firmware, called 2.4, Sony has found itself in a storm of comments from the users who have experienced serious troubles with their gaming consoles.

Apparently flooded by the reports about what went wrong in various PS3 models, Sony has decided to pull off the 2.4 firmware and to seriously investigate the problem.

However, the company didn’t disclose with how many report is dealing or how soon it will be able to fix the reported problems. Sony mentioned only that its consumer services department has seen a low volume of calls on this topic.

The 2.4 firmware included an XMB in-game access update and a new Trophy system. Surprisingly, the unknown issue of the 2.4 firmware that causes PS3 malfunctions didn’t affect all the users, and there are also reports from the customers who have successfully managed to update their console.

It is interesting to see how Sony will manage to solve the issue and if the company will re-issue the 2.4 firmware or just it will release a 2.4.1 (or other values) update for all the PS3 users.

Lat month, Sony has confirmed that as soon as this summer will unveil a movie download service for its PS3 platform, which means that probably in a month or two we will see a new firmware.

Kazuo Hirai announced also "Life With PlayStation," a virtual globe software which is similar but apparently more professional than Nintendo's forecast and news channels.

However, Hirai explained that "Life With PlayStation" will be much more than news and weather and the users will be able to store movies and photos. so it seems like at least one major firmware update is on the way!
