PETA Too Sexy for the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is known to have the most expensive, the most creative and the sexiest commercials. Unfortunately for some producers, NBC is not willing to air all of them.

This year, the network drew the line regarding the commercial from the animal rights group PETA, which features bare-naked women with vegetables in sexy circumstances.

The explanation offered to Access Hollywood by PETA’s spokesman, Michael McGraw was that the ad is actually trying to show the fact that according to studies, vegetarians have better sex. McGraw also mentioned the email which PETA received from NBC explicitly stating the fact that the commercial was too sexy and too provocative to be aired, therefore, certain things need to be removed from it. This is not something PETA should be proud of, because it shows that they have no regard when it comes to sexually explicit content being aired.

If there may be considered a comfort, PETA will not be the only one left out on the ad front this Super Bowl, for General Motors along with FedEx will join on the bench. In spite of that, General Motors will be sponsoring a few game festivities and will also present the game MVP with one of its prize Cadillacs.

It appears that the price of a 30-second commercial spot went up to $3 million from $2.7 million. Many of the spots were booked before the economic downturn in the fall and until a few weeks ago about 10 per cent of the ads had not been sold yet.

Around 150 million people usually tune in to the Super Bowl and could not care less who wins the game. Most of them come for the commercials and the half-time show. This year Bruce Springsteen is the guest star.
