Monday, a small plane crashed in Oregon, into a vacation home, causing the
death of the two people who were on the plane and also killing three children
who were on the ground. According to the Examiner.com, authorities informed
that the single-engine plane crashed into a vacation home. The children who
were killed are Hesam Farrar Masoudi, 12, and Grace Masoudi, 7, who are both
from Denver and Julia Reimann, 10, of Beaverton. The pilot and the passenger
who also died are Jason Ketchson and Frank Toohey, 58, both from Clatsop County.
Allegedly the plane crashed before 7 a.m., crashing into a
tree. City Administrator Dennis McNally said that there were six people in the
vacation home, a four-bedroom rental home, who were there for a family reunion
and vacation. The plane also damaged a house which was near the vacation home.
According to the Examiner.com, Michael Griffiths, executive
director of the regional emergency transport consortium Life Flight said that Ruth
Jackson-Reimann, 47, and two children, Christopher Reimann, 13, and Sarah
Reimann, 11, were transported to Portland
in order to be treated for their burns. Their conditions were not made public.
The plane, a four-seat Cessna, was owned by Aviation
Adventures. The company rented the plane to Ketchson and it had taken off from Seaside Airport,
heading to Klamath Falls, in southern Oregon.
It is not yet known why the plane crashed and Federal
Aviation Administration along with National Transportation Safety Board
investigators are on the scene.
