New York - Popular US talk show host Oprah Winfrey, 54, has vowed to battle her recent weight gain, blaming it on "food abuse."
Oprah, who recently admitted to tipping the scales at more than 90 kilograms, said in her website it was not about food and dieting.
"It's about using food - abusing food. Too much work, not enough play. Not enough time to come down. Not enough time to really relax," she wrote on her official website.
The media mogul, who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, a hormonal imbalance triggering weight problems, said she was now "hungry for a balance," adding that she wanted to do something else than work and take more time for her well-being.
One of the talk show queen’s most triumphant moments in her battle with weight came in 1988, when she waltzed out on the set of her show comfortably squeezed into a size 10 Calvin Klein pair of jeans. She wheeled behind her a wagon loaded with fat – a symbol of the 67 pounds she had shed.
Years later, in 2005, she revealed she had starved herself for four months, on a liquid-protein diet, to reach that enviably slim silhouette. Within hours of the show, she was celebrating her success by eating. “Of course, within two days those jeans no longer fit!” she grimly commented.
