In the
January issue of “O” magazine, which hit the newsstands this Tuesday, iconic
talk-show host Oprah Winfrey said she had come to weigh 200
pounds, admitting she was no longer on the right track in terms of a healthy
life-style.
Moreover,
in an article provided early to The Associated Press by Harpo
Productions, Winfrey stated she was enraged with herself and embarrassed she had
not managed to keep her weight under control, even though she had learned how
in the past.
In the article from the magazine, Oprah talks about her thyroid
condition she has been fighting, which has made to fear work-out sessions and
admits she has gained 40 pounds
from 2006, when the scale used to show only 160 pounds.
Nevertheless, the talk-show host has revealed that she no
longer aimed at being thin, focusing on staying strong, healthy and fit
instead.
Winfrey is now expected to talk about her weight issues
during „The Oprah Winfrey Show” episode on January 5.
Back in 1988, also during her talk-show, Oprah wheeled a
wagon loaded with fat onto the set, symbolizing the 67-pound weight loss she
had accomplished by following a liquid protein diet. At that time, she appeared
for her talk-show wearing a pair of size 10 Calvin Klein jeans to do justice to
her new figure.
Still, in 2005, she revealed she had started to celebrate by
eating after the show, following months of starvation and that two days later,
she couldn’t fit in those jeans anymore.
During the year 1990, she had already regained the 67 pounds she had lost and the same
year, she pledged she would not keep a diet in her life.
Throughout time, she has tipped the scale at as much as 237 pounds, while now, her body
mass index (BMI) of 31.8 renders her to fall into the category of obese people.
