The new season from One Trill Hill will premiere tonight at
8 p.m. with two episodes.
The producers decided to make a bold move and to skip the
college years. So we will get to see the gang entering their adult-life.
This comes as a breath of fresh air when we were used to see
the characters attending the same college, facing some problems, which that doesn’t
happen in real life. People do grow apart.
The move was welcomed by the cast members too, according to
Sophia Bush, who said that it was hard for her to play somebody younger than
her, newsobserver.com reports.
Because, let’s face it, the cast of “One Tree Hill” looks a
little too old to play 16 year-old teenagers.
So know the producers decided to make the 21 year-olds to
act like in their mid-30s.
After we saw the gang graduating from high school in the fourth
season, action leaps four years in time showing the characters taking a bite
from the real life.
Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) is now the coach of the Ravens,
a losing team, and after he had a success with his first novel “An Unkindness
of Ravens,” is suffering from the writer’s block.
We find Brooke (Sophia Bush) as a successful fashion
designer in New York
with her own clothing line “Clothes over Bro’s.” Nathan (James Lafferty) is now
dealing with the role of father and husband who is struggling with an alcohol
addiction. Hailey (Bethany Joy Galeotti), now a student teacher, and Nathan
have a four year old son, James.
Peyton (Hilarie Burton) works in the music business at a
record label Los Angeles.
She is disappointed and feels like she has compromised her principles.
It seems like all this deceptions lead to a possible reunion
in home town, Tree Hill.
The producers got to shot 12 episodes from the new season, including
the 100th episode of the series, before the writers strike. The cast
celebrated the event in Wilmington
in December.
The show premiered in 2003 centering around the story of two
step brothers who start as rivals but who grow close on the basketball court,
playing for the high school team, the Tree Hill Ravens. The show was kept on
the air even after the WB, its original network, combined in 2006 with the UPN
to form the CW.
