Appearing at the Cannes Film Festival, where her latest movie "A Mighty Heart" premiered, actress Angelina Jolie told reporters she plans to take some time off, like a year or so, to spend it with her growing family.
"I'm working this summer. I'm in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months," she told reporters Tuesday.
"And then I take a year off."
"We're getting work out of the way at the moment," said the 31-year-old actress, who has been shooting the thriller "Wanted," for the past couple of weeks.
Several months ago when Jolie adopted Pax Thien, a 3-year-old Vietnamese boy, she said she would take some time off to take care of her family, at least until Pax Thien would adjust to his new life.
The Oscar-winner who plays the wife of Daniel Pearl, The Wall Street Journal writer slain by Islamic terrorists in 2002, Mariane, said: "I think many people know this story and tend to forget that Mariane was five and a half months pregnant, so through it all, through all her fighting, she was trying to stay calm, working so hard to try and find her husband.
"When I was going over this story I was thinking about that. I remember being six months pregnant and thinking I can't imagine at that time not having the father with me, and being concerned about his life, and trying to eat, trying to remember to get some sleep, trying to take deep breaths, and physically just moving around.”
Jolie also spoke about her own family life, saying: "We got here [in Cannes] yesterday and had a beautiful day with our kids. We've all been simply playing with our children from the moment we landed."
For Jolie, she said her only concern is her family—the reason for her hiatus.
"My kids are healthy. I have a lot I want to do in this world. Before I do, I wanna do a lot of things as a woman, as a mom, and that's my focus. At the end of the day, I'm gonna be dead...and what people say about me is gonna be what I accomplished and what I did in my life and how my children are."
