The "Hills" stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are still not legally married. Both of them, who are still wearing their "wedding" rings, decided not to go through with a civil wedding ceremony in the reality show's finale which aired Monday night.
After their quickie wedding in Mexico, Heidi and Spencer planned to make it official with a trip to the Beverly Hills courthouse; but Spencer had a change of heart just as he was about to say, “I do.”
Before Spencer says "I do," he asks Heidi if it's what she really wants, and that if she really does want the big fairy-tale wedding, he'll "deal with it." And they walked about the courtroom, with the judge smiling and waving.
Last week, rumors were spreading that actually everything about the entire courtroom scene was faked. Plus, no one could find any record of a marriage license being filed under Pratt or Montag, though Spencer repeatedly insisted to the media that was because he'd checked the "confidential" box when they filed. It seems now, however, that the two haven't actually been legally married in the U.S., as they didn't complete the civil ceremony.
Heidi's mom accused Spencer of orchestrating the couple’s elopement, and his sister Stephanie strongly voiced her concerns about a courthouse marriage to her brother. Finally, Pratt decided to postpone the ceremony, telling Heidi, “I just want to give you the wedding of your dreams that you have been talking about for three years. I’ll deal with it. It’s worth it to be with you the rest of my life. We’ll do it the way you want, I’m sorry, I love you so much.”
