Hours after Facebook has decided to take down Scrabulous, following the legal clash between Hasbro and the Agarwalla brothers, the famous game has reborn with a new name and look.
Now it is called Wordscraper and it is promoted as the coolets application on Facebook. It offers two versions: Wordscraper Blitz, a fast paced word building competition in real-time and Wordscraper Regular, a fantastic tool to build and play your own word game.
Last week, Hasbro has filed a lawsuit against the Indian developers of Scrabulous, a game that managed to attract close to 500,000 users per day on Facebok.
Facebook has tried to elude the shut down notice received from Hasbro, but it had no other choice than to comply.
Since January, when Hasbro first announced that Scrabulous is infringing its copyright, thousands of users have joined a “Save Scrabulous” petition initiated on Facebook.
Meanwhile Scrabulous is still available on the UK version of Facebook, because Hasbro hold only the North American online distribution rights.
Yesterday, Scrabble application created by Electronic Arts with Hasbro was unavailable on Facebook, apparently due to some unidentified hackers.
However, it remains to be seen if Wordscraper will have the same success as Scrabulous.
