Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been targeted by the animal
rights organizations for their idea of using fur in their clothing line, as
well as for wearing fur.
“The Trollsen Twins” became the subject of a campaign
that was initiated on Dec. 11, 2007 in L.A.
by the Peta2 (a youth targeted PETA group), in which the twins were being
mocked for their “allegiance” to fur. Organization representatives said they
would show “two hideous images of fur – Mary-Kate and Ashley themselves – the
most unflattering photo of the two fur fiends that Peta2 could find.”
The organization didn’t limit its campaign to a street
demonstration. A web site with anti-fur games featuring the Olsen twins is now
available to all animal rights defenders.
Users can dress up the two twins in
different dead animal accessories and bloody fury coats and email the pictures
to their friends. The site also hosts a video called “Full House of Horrors”, a
parody on the series that made the Olsens famous in past, in which Futureman
travels back in time with an important mission: to warn the Tanners about the
little monsters they’re raising.
“No one could argue that Mary-Kate and Ashley could use some
meat on their bones, but the last thing they need is hair on their backs –
especially when it belongs to someone else. These two are a couple of real
lightweights when it comes to both taste and compassion,” stated Dan Shannon,
Peta2 Assistant Director of Youth Campaigns.
Peta2’s “The Trollsen Twins” campaign, featuring “Hairy
Kate” and “Trashley” Olsen, chose an adequate motto, namely ““Fur Is Worn by
Beautiful Animals and Ugly People,” but the twins’ representative did not wish
to comment on the subject.
