Talking to TV host “Dr. Phil” McGraw on Tuesday, Nadya Suleman revealed that her greatest fear is not that she won’t be able to raise her fourteen babies, but that she might not get the chance to.
Although she is convinced she can make enough money to support her children off a book she’s yet to pen, Nadya Suleman told Dr. Phil she fears Kaiser Permanente Medical Center may not release her octuplets to her until she proves she can care for them.
“In general, mothers with multiple births who have babies in the neonatal intensive care unit are given advice and counsel about what they need to have in place to care for the children when they are discharged. There is a multidisciplinary team that works with them in advance to offer advice and support,” a spokesperson for the hospital said.
Suleman taped two episodes of McGraw's syndicated show, the first of which aired Wednesday. Part two airs Thursday.
In the first part of the interview, Nadya Suleman said she’s afraid the hospital won’t let her take the octuplets home from the hospital since she has no job, too many kids, and likely won’t have a home in a few weeks.
Before giving birth to octuplets on January 26, 2009, the 33-year-old unemployed mother of 14 depended on food stamps and disability to care for her other six children, all under the age of 8.
“If you don't have plans in place you need to say so, so we can help....People need to know you get it,” Dr. Phil tells her at one point during their interview.
“I think I'll fully get it when they are ready to come home,” said Suleman, who has been living with her half-dozen kids in her mother's three-bedroom home in suburban Los Angeles.
According to recent reports, the house is under threat of foreclosure. Suleman’s mother is more than $23,000 behind in her mortgage payments, property records show.
McGraw -- who has interviewed Suleman and her mother Angela at length -- said recently that he believes Suleman “is very loving.”
“I see somebody that has such a Pollyanna disconnect with real-world realities, and what she’s getting ready to face, it’s like she’s on a Disney ride,” McGraw added, urging that people cannot turn their back on Suleman without turning their back on the children.
In the meantime, Suleman was made an offer that might be the answer to her financial problems, at leas on a short term. The mother-of-fourteen was offered $1 million and free medical and dental insurance for her and her brood - if she stars in multiple porn videos.
Vivid Entertainment, the world’s largest peddler of adult flicks, wrote a letter to the serial mom asking her to consider becoming a contract “Vivid Girl” (like Jenna Jameson) and starring in a few X-rated flicks, TMZ.com reported.
