Obama's Words Don't Taste Sweet

Oops, he did it again. According to Detroit Free Press, Barack Obama has a bad habit of calling “all kinds of people” sweetie. He did it first in early April, at a factory in Pennsylvania, when he called a woman who worked there “sweetie.”

Although Barack Obama was awarded his second Grammy Award for best spoken-word album at this year’s ceremony, for the audio recording of his “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream” bestseller, his way with words isn’t something he should necessarily be proud of.

Wednesday, May 14, when he was at a Chrysler stamping plant in Sterling Heights, he called reporter Peggy Agar, who had asked him a question, “sweetie.” What was he thinking? That if he calls her like that it would seem less obvious he was dismissing her?

“Hold on one second, sweetie,” Obama said, according to Detroit Free Press. Of course he was caught on camera and, of course, the video was posted on YouTube.

Needless to say that Agar, reporter for WXYZ television network in Michigan, aka “sweetie” didn’t get her answer.

But, in an attempt to make things right, Obama later called Agar and left her a voice mail in which he apologized for calling her that way and for not answering her question. He tried to defend himself by saying that he “meant no disrespect” and that this was a bad habit of him, calling “all kinds of people” sweetie. I wonder if he calls men “sweetie” as well. And if this a bad habit, why doesn’t he quit? He’s supposed to have quit smoking. Come on, Obama, you can do it.
