Although President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle
Obama, have done their best in order to keep their daughters away from the
public eye, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha have already stirred Hollywood buzz. However, it is still unclear whether
reports claiming the two girls’ upcoming appearances on “Hannah Montana” are
mere rumors.
Following numerous assertions with reference to the matter,
Miley Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray Cyrus informed “Access Hollywood” that the Obama
girls were likely to appear on the show starring his daughter, as they had
already been invited by producers to guest star on an episode that would
probably be aired in April. The 47-year-old country singer nevertheless did not
offer further information, explaining that he was not allowed to disclose any
details.
In the meantime, Disney released a statement that did not
seem to sustain the affirmations made by Billy Ray Cyrus. The statement said
that the Disney team was very happy that Malia and Sasha were fans of the
series and that they were welcome on the set of any Disney Channel show “for a
guest role or a visit, anytime.”
Barack Obama himself told reporters several times that his
daughters enjoyed the series, but he has also strived to keep them away from
public attention. In addition, the communications director for Michelle Obama,
Katie McCormick Lelyveld, informed MTV News on Tuesday that the Obama camp had
“received no such inquiry for the girls.”
And if things hadn’t already been uncertain enough, Miley
Cyrus, the “Hannah Montana” star, seemed to know nothing about the Obama girls’
appearances on the show either, since she told “Access Hollywood” that a visit
from the President-elect’s daughters would be “really cool.”
