O.J.'s Book WILL Be Published

O.J. Simpson’s controversial book “If I Did It,” describing hypothetical details of the murders he says he did not commit, will be published, according to an announcement made Monday.

O.J. has always maintained he did not murder his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman but, go figure, he had the questionable imagination to write up a book describing how he would have murdered them, although he never did.

News of the publication of his “If I Did It” caused a stir late last year. The publishers eventually had to pull the plug on the release of O.J.’s fictitious account of the murders.

Monday, a New York literary agent for Ronald Goldman’s family announced that the book would be repackaged and published, but under new conditions. A statement from the agent’s spokesperson said: “The family and publisher have pledged to leave Simpson's manuscript entirely intact, but they will also add key commentary.”

As it is, the Goldman family holds the rights for the book, transferred to them by a federal judge last month. They will receive 90% of the profits, as part of their settlement. O.J. has paid little of the $33.5 million in damages that he owes them as a result of being held liable for the death of Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown.

Further details will be revealed Tuesday, according to the spokesperson for literary agent Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management. The spokesperson, Michael Wright, also announced that part of the proceeds will be donated to the Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice.

O.J., now 60, is a former NFL player and actor. He was married to Nicole Brown from 1985 to 1992. the couple had one child. He was acquitted of her murder and that of Goldman in 1995.

Late last year, it was reported that O.J. would receive $1 million for his book. It was soon revealed that he had set up a shell company where sale proceeds from the book would flow.

Ron Goldman’s father filed a federal lawsuit at the time, accusing O.J. of profiting from “the death of my son.” The release of the book through HarperCollins was to be accompanied by an interview on Fox, which was also cancelled by News Corp.’s boss Rupert Murdoch (both HarperCollins and Fox are divisions of News Corps.).
