O.J. Simpson's Heist Trial: The Latest Key Facts and Figures

One of the two sports memorabilia dealers who were allegedly attacked and robbed by O.J. Simpson and five other individuals, who accompanied the former NFL star that night, said in court that the items over which they fought actually belong to the ex-football player’s children.

The key witness – sports memorabilia dealer Bruce Fromong - estimated the items at about $100,000. He also told jurors that Mr. Simpson shouldn’t have tried to get the items back at gunpoint. It would have been better if he and Simpson "could have come to some arrangement."

However, Fromong did try to sell the memorabilia items on September 13 at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino, but instead of meeting a wealthy buyer as he had expected, he met O.J. Simpson’s pose. The items included pictures of Mr. Simpson’s children and his late parents and also Pete Rose baseballs and Joe Montana lithographs.

Another key witness will most likely be summoned in court soon. Thomas Riccio, the memorabilia dealer who brokered the meeting between Mr. Simpson and the two memorabilia dealers, said he was waiting to be called to testify, The Associated Press reported. According to the collectibles broker, he will be called to the courthouse “anytime from late Tuesday to early Thursday.”

An audio recording of the scuffle at the Las Vegas casino hotel was played in court. Defense attorney Gabriel Grasso accused Fromong that he intended to make money from the heist and played the tape.

"It's not over. It's not f*****g over. I'll have 'Inside Edition' down here for us tomorrow. I told you I want big money," Fromong was recorded saying. The recording was made after O.J. Simpson and the five individuals who accompanied him allegedly stole memorabilia worth $100,000 from the two dealers.

"I stood up for that motherf****r while he was in jail," Fromong voice is heard saying in the recording. “I helped him set up his f*****g offshore accounts. Don't f**k with me."

Simpson, 61, and the only co-defender left, Clarence "C.J." Stewart, pleaded not guilty to 12 charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and coercion. If he is found guilty of all charges, Mr. Simpson could be sentenced to life in prison.
