Nvision 2008 Presents Nvidia's Vision For The Future

Nvidia’s conference, Nvision 2008, began yesterday at the San Jose Convention Center, offering technical presentations and several other sessions focused on different visual computing elements. It also includes demos of numerous current and upcoming games and high-end vertical applications. The event will continue for another two days and it is expected to offer its participants a great experience. The crowd is mainly composed of video gamers, designers, artists and programmers.

The company’s CEO Jen-Hsuan Huang explained in his introduction speech that Nvidia Corp. will focus its future efforts on the smartphone market, as it is believed to become the next big thing, with the smartphones turning into the next personal computer. He added that at this point producers focus more on the phone part than on the computer features and the next step in his opinion is to switch this focus, putting a lot more emphasis on the computer’s utility. "We think that computing needs to be far better on mobile devices," Huang explained.

"Our strategy with mobile is to completely focus on the smartphone. This is clearly going to be the second personal computer revolution," he added.

As everyone knows, Nvidia’s main market competitor is Intel, the world’s largest semiconductor company, and Mr. Huang sees this smartphone strategy as the best way of winning some extra popularity points. At this point, Nvidia offers its Tegra chip with an all-in-one integrated graphics system and Intel sells its Atom processor, developed especially for mobile devices.

The conference is considered a great advertising campaign for the company, which managed to get its message across and present its upcoming plans to a wide range of consumers.
