Another day, another YouTube-related news! After Google
unveiled its new advertising service Video Units, thanks to which the web publishers
may display through AdSense relevant ad-supported YouTube videos, now it’s time
for another melding.
Google combined its two services YouTube and Google Earth in
a new layer. Thanks to the new layer when a user zooms in to view a certain
location, they can choose to view related videos from YouTube.
Of course YouTube publishers have to tag their creations
with a location marking for it to show up on Google Earth.
“Our new browseable layer of geotagged videos works a lot
like our Google Book Search layer, only it shows you the locations referenced
in specific videos instead of books. Let's say you're jetting off to Paris. Before you go, you
can watch the sunset filmed from the top floor of the Eiffel
Tower, among other clips of popular
spots in the City of Lights,”
explained in a blog post Amin Charaniya, Software
Engineer, Google Earth.
The users who wish to see the
related video should click the “YouTube” button which is available in the “Featured
Content” folder in the left-side panel of Google Earth.
