The much talked about return to the music scene from pop icon Britney Spears will finally happen: her new album is due for release November 13.
There have been rumors about Britney working on her first studio album in about 4 years since before she entered the Promises rehabilitation center earlier this month and now it’s finally happening.
Jive Records has confirmed exclusively to People magazine that Britney’s new musical effort will be released on Nov. 13. Until then, the world can have a taste of her new music through “Gimme More,” the first single from the album.
The dance track officially premiered Thursday night on New York radio station Z-100's Web site. Versions of it had been leaked to at least two other Web sites, perezhilton.com and TMZ, just minutes before hitting the airwaves.
“The track that leaked is off of Britney Spears's forthcoming album. The song is “Gimme More,” produced by Danja, [and is] written by Nathaniel “Danjahands” Hills, James Washington, Keri Hilson, Marcella Araica,” a Jive Records spokesperson told People magazine.
Earlier this week there had been rumors that Britney’s first single would be a lovelorn ballad titled “Baby Boy,” where she sang heartfelt and heartbroken lyrics of being abandoned by the man she thought was “the one.”
Britney proves though that she’s a fighter, not a crier, with “Gimme More,” which has already received plenty of favorable reviews.
Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, who collaborated with Britney on several songs, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Wednesday: “[Britney has] gotta remind people why they love her in the first place. She's gotta get their minds off her personal life and back on the music.”
There are many eagerly awaiting her music, loyal fans that have turned their backs on Britney on account of her personal struggles. Back in May, Britney performed several short concerts in Los Angeles and Florida, that included her signature dancing skills.
While some complained that she had lip-synched, there were numerous voices saying it was good to have her back and that the lip-synching did not bother them, considering it a sort of warming up.
