Mark, a British man who indulged himself in buying an iPhone
last week, seems to have got a bit more than what he paid for. On turning his
brand new gadget on, he was surprised to learn that Apple really means business
when they say fully-equipped. The device’s home screen showed a picture of a
Chinese woman happily smiling and waving the victory sign to one of her co-workers
who was testing the iPhone.
The photo was posted under the "markm49uk" from Kingston-upon-Hull alias on the Apple discussion website
MacRumours.com and afterwards, from there to many other Internet sites,
rendering the woman quite a household name on the web.
“The Mystery iPhone Girl,” as she is being called, works for
the Taiwanese company Foxconn, which assembles the iPhones for Apple in
Shenzhen in southern China.
The company’s spokesperson Liu Kun stated for the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong that the woman had been identified but that her
details would not be delivered to the press. Also, she has been told by her
employers that she is in no danger to lose her job, news agency Reuters
informs.
And they say the road to worldwide fame and recognition is
long and tortuous. When in fact, all it takes is a photo. And not even a naked
one.
