Just to make sure that everyone is on the same page, except, of course, for kids under 10 and people living in their parents' basement: was there ever a movie that could still be something else than a money-maker machine after its 3rd sequel?
Especially a movie about a guy who’s jumping from one building to another and wears a tight polyester costume underneath his regular clothes? No offense to Spiderman fans, but how much more can you squeeze out of a comic book?
A lot, apparently, as director Sam Raimi plans on teaming-up with Tobey Maguire for “Spiderman” 4 and 5, filmed concurrently, not only because it's cheaper, but apparently because Zodiac screenwriter Jamie Vanderbilt's script includes a story arc that encompassed two films, not one.
Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood, the one who started the rumor, creates even more confusion, as a lot of details are still to be determined, including whether Kirsten Dunst, who played Peter Parker's on-again/ off-again love interest, Mary-Jane Watson will be invited to co-star with Tobey. However, her character will appear in the sequels, as well as a mysterious villain. About this bad guy thing, Finke only says that "once you find out who the villain is, you'll know who's playing it."
Oh, the curiosity, oh, the excitement! Is Spiderman’s suit going to be black or not? Is he fighting others or only his inner demons? Will there be a “Spiderman 7” or "15'? Will he ever settle down and have little baby spider men?
Will there be a “Spiderman” starring an old Tobey and a wrinkled Kirsten kissing in the rain outside the retirement house? All is possible in a world with only a handful of heroes and oh, so many villains!
