Oslo  - Norway has not yet been approached by the United States over offering residency to former prisoners in the US maximum- security prison in Guantanamo, but is "ready to listen," Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store said Wednesday.

Store told Norwegian news agency NTB that Oslo had noted that the US had begun to sound out its allies about receiving some of the Guantanamo prisoners, but was wating for a formal US request before it decided on its stance.

Erna Solberg, leader of the opposition Conservatives, was sceptical saying "the US has to find a solution to this itself," she was quoted as telling the online edition of the Verdens Gang newspaper.
