Nokia N97 – iBeat the iPhone!

On December the 2nd, Nokia announced its flagship device for the next year. Loaded with the newest technologies, the N97 represents Nokia’s first real attempt to compete with Apple’s iPhone. The phone sports features that already are available and sought-after in competitors’ devices, but the Finnish smartphone manages to solve iPhone’s lack of a hardware keyboard.

Being fit with the latest touchscreen Symbian OS, the Nokia N97 keyword seems to be usability. Beside the usual features, the new device is able to be user-personalized with widgets and personal icons on the home screen. Also, day by day use will be more fun and easy because the N97 comes with an accelerometer with comes handy both in the default menus and various 3rd party applications and games to take advantage of this technology.

Here’s the full feature list of the N97: HSDPA, quad-band GSM, Wi-Fi, GPS, 16M color 3.5 inch touchscreen, 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, TV-out and FM radio. All these top-notch characteristics come at the expense of weight and size: This mobile device weighs 150 grams and, as it is as long and wide as an iPhone 3G, the N97 is a bit cumbersome to hold, being pretty thick.

"From the desktop to the laptop and now to your pocket, the Nokia N97 is the most powerful, multi-sensory mobile computer in existence," Jonas Geust, vice president for Nokia Nseries said, and we believe him, as this device really stands chances to become Nokia’s new market hit.
