Nokia And Carphone Warehouse Join Forces

Nokia announced today its partnership with Carphone Warehouse, which will enable the release of the company’s Comes with Music service in the United Kingdom. The free music package will be accompanied by a new Nokia model expected to hit the retail stores next month.

The company explained that its offer is different from the other ones available on the market, allowing users to keep all the tunes downloaded through the service even after their contract ends. Users will have a wide variety of songs to choose from, as Nokia managed to already sign Universal, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group to allow access to their huge music archives.

"With unlimited music access for a year, you can enjoy your favorite artists or delve into new genres without having to worry about individual track or album purchases," said Tero Ojanpera, executive vice president and head of Nokia's Entertainment and Communities business.

Carphone is also looking at massive financial gains, receiving exclusive rights for unsubsidized Nokia 5310 XpressMusic "Comes with Music" edition sales in Britain, which is one of Nokia’s best sellers.

With phone sales slowing down on a global level and CD sales also at an all-time low, the major players of each segment of the market are looking for all sorts of ways to get back on top. These deals are meant to bring something new and attracting to the phone maker’s offer and at the same time put the producer’s songs out there especially for the customers who do not have the time or mood to search through an entire record store for a certain tune or album.
