Rumors were that actress Mischa Barton was offered a role on CW's hit drama "Gossip Girl" which she just turned down, according to Usmagazine.com.

"She will not be on the show. She was approached, but her reps passed," her rep was quoted by the mag as saying.

It was initially reported by media gossip website Gawker that the former "O.C." actress, who was just in Paris attending Fashion Week and promoting her upcoming drama "Closing the Ring," will be joining the show. Then US publication TV Guide reported that the rumors are 100 percent true and Barton had been asked to play Georgina Sparks, an old friend of Serena Van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively.

Last time we saw the 22-year-old starlet, who said she prefers working on movies, in a series, was on the Fox hit drama "The O.C." before her character got killed off in 2006.

In the meantime, Barton was officially charged last week with misdemeanor DUI and pot possession stemming from her December arrest.

"We are pleased that the District Attorney’s Office has very carefully reviewed all the evidence in Ms. Barton’s matter and has chosen to file only misdemeanor charges against her," Barton's attorney, Anthony Salerno, said in a statement
