No Doubt will undoubtedly hit the road again next year while
concluding its first studio album in seven years. The third wave ska band got
to the conclusion that “it’s time for some rock and roll,” or at least that’s
what the group’s bassist, Tony Kanal, wrote on No Doubt’s official Web site
with regard to the long awaited reunion.
During the live online chat on Friday, the members of the
band announced that they intended to bring the four-year hiatus, during which
Gwen Stefani released a couple of critically-acclaimed solo albums and became
mother of two, to an end and leave on a tour in 2009.
“I don’t think we should wait. Pack up the babies and get a
bunch of nannies,” the 39-year-old lead singer wrote on the Web site, adding
that several gigs featuring No Doubt old tracks would be “inspiring” and “fun.”
In spite of the fact that no information regarding concert
locations or dates have been made public, unnamed sources informed People.com
that the tour would kick off next summer.
Gwen Stefani also said that she and her colleagues would
work on the new album during the upcoming tour, as such an experience would
help them write. “I need to see fans out there,” she explained.
Drummer Adrian Young said that he was very fond of the idea
of a fresh tour, while guitarist Tom Dumont said that it would be productive
for the group to work on the product while on the road.
The album would be No Doubt’s first studio album since
2001’s “Rock Steady,” which received mostly positive reviews from music critics
and a Grammy nomination as well.
