Nissan: Don’t Touch I-Key and Mobile Phones

The owners of new Altima and Infiniti G35 models from Nissan can run in some troubles if the electronic keys will be in the contact with cell phones. Nissan America warned the drivers to keep away the cell phones from electronic I-keys because the interference may erase the Key’s codes.

I-Keys, one the latest Nissan’s inventions, are using wireless technology to start the engine ant operate the doors. If the codes are lost the drivers maight be unable to open the doors or move the vehicle.

The damage seems to be permanent.

"If the I-Key touches a cellphone, outgoing or incoming calls have the potential to alter the electronic code inside the key," Nissan spokesman Kyle Bazemore told Reuters. "The car will not start and the I-Key cannot be reprogrammed."

According to Nissan, only a small percentage of cars sold are affected and the company already notified the owners about the potential problem.
