Just in time for the coming Christmas Holydays, Nintendo has launched a new service for its Wii users. Nintendo is allowing users to buy a Virtual Console game not only for them but also for another Wii console user.
Wii users can log on to “Wii Shop” channel and use their credit cards or their prepaid Wii Points cards, available at major retailers. They can purchase content and download classic games from past gaming platforms through a service called “Virtual Console”. The purchased content can be send to another Wii user instead of downloading it to the personal console.
The feature also notifies the buyer if the receiver of the gift already owns the selected title, before the purchase is finalized and also offers the option to choose another title instead. The choosing is permitted from the entire collection of over 100 Virtual Console’s titles. The receiver user must be already registered under the console’s “friend code” system and also have a wireless broadband Internet connection.
Also, from this week, Virtual Console has new additions like NES’s Ghosts’n Goblins, the Neo Geo’s Baseball Stars 2 and the Nintendo 64’s Pokemon Snap. Snap is the first of the Virtual Console’s title that has expanded Wii integration, as players can take pictures in the game and send them to Wii Message Board.
