Nintendo Wii Crashes Again The Competition In November

Nintendo Wii won again the title of the best-seeling gaming console in US during November with close to one million sold. In fact, the company missed the one million mark by only 19,000 units. In its best month ever, Nintendo sold 981,000 Wiis, according to the data released today by NPD Group.

Wii was followed by Microsoft’s Xbox 360, that sold 770,000 units, which is quite a record. In September, Microsoft outsold outsold Nintendo Wii, for the first time since the last holiday season, with 528,000 units sold. But in October as Halo 3 effect was fading out Microsoft sold only 366,000 Xbox 360s.

Sony’s PlayStation 3 managed to score its best month this year with 466,000 units sold, which proves that finally Sony’s strategy to slash the prices paid off.  Still PS2 outsold again its brother with 496,000 units.

Beside Wii’s fantastic sales figures, Nintendo has one more reason to celebrate as its handheld gaming console, Nintendo DS sold 1.53 million units.

According to NPD Group U.S. video game sales soared 52 percent to hit $2.63 billion in November. Hardware sales jumped 41 percent to $1.1 billion from $772 million a year earlier, and software sales rose 62 percent to $1.3 billion from $804 million, the company announced.

The new hit in gaming software is Activision Inc.'s "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" for the Xbox 360 with 1.57 million units, The second place goes to "Super Mario Galaxy" for the Wii, from Nintendo, with 1.12 million, while the third place was won by another Xbox 360 game, Ubisoft's "Assasin's Creed".
