Every time we say Wii, we might
as well say No.1 in sales, and that is no exaggeration. Last year was Nintendo
Wii’s year, and 2008 should make no exception, as Wedbush Morgan Securities
analyst Michael Pachter said. According to his predictions, Nintendo Wii’s
latest release, Wii Fit, will sell 3 to 4 million units in the United States
“if they market aggressively,” he told the New
York Post.
Wii Fit, which is supposed to
reach the stores on May 19, will receive the largest marketing launch in the
company’s history, Pachter said, adding a $40 million figure to the budget.
Since the product has been released in Japan in December last year, Wii Fit
already sold 1.5 million copies, and is expected to do very well on the U.S.
market.
Wii Fit comes with a pressure
sensitive balance-board that can be used for all sorts of dynamic activities,
such as aerobic, yoga, muscle stretches and games, and emphasize on slow and
controlled motions. It also includes as much as 40 different activities and it
became a success in Japan since it was released.
Pachter expects the same thing
to happen in the United States, as he predicted it to be one of 2008’s
blockbusters in the industry. As executives reportedly told him, the
advertising campaign is the largest they’ve ever done so far and is meant to
boost sales.
It may not solve one’s weight
problems, but its developers say it promotes a healthy life style and is an
interactive guide to activities that help people keep in shape and have fun at
the same time. What more could we possibly want from Nintedo, as they’ve
managed to stay on top of every sale and things just seem to get better for
them.
