Nintendo presented yesterday its new MotionPlus accessory
which will significantly improve the motion sensitivity of the company’s Wii
video game. The device works together with the Wii remote’s built-in
accelerometer and the console’s sensor bar, leading to a much more effective tracking
of the user’s movements.
The Wii MotionPlus accessory will be attached to the end of
the Wii Remote, offering "an unmatched level of precision and
immersion."
"Every slight movement players make with their wrist or
arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen," Nintendo
explained in a statement. The release comes as a confirmation of the company’s
commitment to continuingly develop its products in order to offer the best
possible experience for everyone, through accessibility and innovation.
The company did not want to give out too much, as a full
presentation is scheduled at a news briefing at the E3 Media and Business
Summit in Los Angeles.
Nintendo’s announcement comes just as Microsoft plans to
release at the beginning of next month its new 60 Giga Bytes Xbox console at
the price of $349. Microsoft also announced its partnership with the DVD rental
service Netflix, which will enable subscribers to download TV episodes and movies,
viewable on their TV sets.
According to Microsoft, Netflix is currently developing a "new
generation of games and entertainment experiences" which will be presented
to Xbox owners sometime in the fall.
There are also several rumors about Microsoft intentions of
releasing its own Wii-style motion controller, but so far, the company did not
comment on the issue.
