Nintendo Launches Six Titles With WiiWare

Starting today, Wii owners with an Internet connection can download new, creative games from a wide range of developers, using Nintendo’s digital download service that promises to bring the best games from large publishers as well as from indie shops.

Wii owners whose consoles are connected to the Internet can log into the Wii Shop Channel from the main menu and download WiiWare games, the Wired informs.

The six games that will launch with the service are different from the ones launched in Japan, but most of the Japanese ones are also supposed to come to the U.S. in the following weeks.

“Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King” is the only game launched both in Japan and in the U.S. It is a Sims-style simulation game where the player, as a child-king, has the mission of repopulating a ghost town by adding buildings and inhabitants. Price: $15.

“Pop” is a nice relaxing game where you have to burst bubbles of the same color, but which can turn into a highly competitive and exciting game when played in multiplayer mode. Price: $7.

“Defend Your Castle” is the classic browser game that everybody is familiar with, in which your job is to defend your castle by picking up little invaders and throwing them away, by use of the Wiimote. The difference that the game makes is the beautiful new graphics. Price: $5.

“Lost Winds” involves a floating character that the player has to guide across obstacles and fires. It seems nice and is probably worth its price of $10.

“V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack” is…well, blackjack, at the price of $7.

“TV Show King” promises to be a very exciting multiplayer quiz-show game with 3,000 questions. Price: $10.

All the games can be purchased using Wii Points, which can be bought online and in retail outlets.
