Metroid Prime: Corruption, the highly anticipated sequel for the Wii console, is getting a VIP treatment from Nintendo: August has been declared “Month of Metroid” and the first trailer for the up-coming game has hit the Shop Channel.
On Friday, Nintendo introduced the first Wii trailer download via the Shop Channel for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. To further celebrate the launch of Metroid Prime: Corruption, the Japanese gaming behemoth has plans to add the first two titles in the series to the Virtual Console. On August 13, you’ll be able to relive the glory days of the original Metroid (ironically launched on August 6, 1986 for NES) in exchange for 500 points ($5), and a week later Super Metroid will be available for 800 points (you guessed it, a mere 8$...).
Metroid Prime: Corruption, a Wii exclusive, will hit stores’ helves on August 27, but the company has not yet announced any pricing for the game.
The MPC trailer is now available in the newly-added WiiWare section of Shop Channel, with others to follow on August 13.
In Europe, Metroid Prime: Corruption will debut on October 26, 2007. The game takes place shortly after the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and it introduces a new control system based on the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers.
