The Electronic Entertainment Expo
this year was the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to announce a number of
peripherals, including the Wii Zapper, a plastic gun housing the Wii-mote and Nunchuck controller.
And today Nintendo that the Wii
Zapper interface will come packed with Link's Crossbow Training. The title is
based on the hugely popular Legend of Zelda series and provides a perfect
demonstration of the way the Wii Zapper could be used in other games.
"Both veteran and first-time
players will find it brings a whole new dimension to games where targeting is
key and provides even more exciting game-play experiences." said George
Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and
corporate communications.
What about the game? In Link's
Crossbow Training the players will dive in a world in the style of The Legend
of Zelda: Twilight Princess (a huge hit on Nintendo’s consoles) and they will assume the identity of hero Link.
Link’s mission is to become a
true Robin Hood and in order to achieve his perfection crossbow marksmanship he
will need to pass a series of tests. From stationary bull's-eyes to moving
targets Link will have to shoot everything in sight.
Apart from the Link’s Crossbow
Training, new game options will be made available for Wii Zapper.
For example, EA's Medal of Honor
Heroes 2 lets players to use the Wii Zapper. The game features an all-new
Wii-exclusive Arcade Mode that offers accessibility to gamers of all skill
levels, a full single-player campaign and support for up to 32 players in
multiplayer. Other titles Wii Zapper-ready are Capcom's Resident Evil: The
Umbrella Chronicles and SEGA's Ghost Squad. Nintendo said the Wii Zapper will go
on sale Nov. 19 at an MSRP of just $19.99.
Beside Wii Zapper, at E3 Expo Nintendo
had announced Wii Balance Board, with a packaged Wii-Fit game/exercise program,
but a release date is still to be announced. However at E3 Expo Nintendo said that
Wii Fit, which will include the Balance Board, will be available in the first
half of 2008, but as the company is trying to stay ahead its competitors maybe
it will be released just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
