Nikon officially introduced its newest digital SLR camera,
the D90, which combines 12.3-megapixel image quality with the world’s first
digital SLR movie function. According to Nikon, D90 is more than a camera, it’s
“a new era of digital SLR fun and creativity.”
D90 offers high image quality inspired from Nikon’s D300, and
an image sensor, which combined with the 12.3 effective megapixels and the
EXPEED image processing, offers “outstanding images,” with fine details, smooth
tones, rich colors and low noise across a wide ISO sensitivity range.
In addition to that, D90 is the world’s first digital SLR
camera, with a movie shooting function for genuinely cinematic results,
supported by DX-format sensor. Furthermore,
the optical quality and NIKKOR lenses - used by professional photographers -
contribute to the D90 incredible movie experience.
The movie function allows the shooting of 320 x 216 pixels,
640 x 424 pixels or HD720p (1,280 x 720 pixels) movies at 24 frames per second
in motion JPEG format. Furthermore, the D90’s sensor, significantly larger than
of a typical camcorder, ensures higher image quality and ISO sensitivity
performance even during movie shooting.
D90 offers quick response, with 0.15-second start-up, 65 ms
shutter release time lag (CIPA standard) and 4.5 fps continuous shooting, as
well as 3-in., approx. 920-k dot high-resolution LCD monitor with wide viewing
angle that allows photographers to change the resolution of the frame while
shooting.
In addition to that, it comes with Built-in flash with 18mm
lens coverage, guide number of approx. 17/56 (ISO 200, m/ft., 20°C/68°F) and
Nikon’s original i-TTL flash control, it offers highly efficient energy-saving
design, which allows approximately 850 images on a single charge of the Rechargeable
Li-ion Battery EN-EL3e, and includes Nikon ViewNX image browsing and editing
software that allows photographers to organize, label and select images as well
as perform RAW (NEF) image editing adjustments and conversions.
D90 is expected to arrive in stores next month, for $1,000,
or $1300 with AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-/56G ED VR lens.
