Nicolette Sheridan Will No Longer Be a Desperate Housewife

A desperate housewife is leaving Wisteria Lane for good. Actress Nicolette Sheridan, who impersonates the saucy Edie Britt on ABC’s popular series “Desperate Housewives,” will exit the comedy, the network announced on Wednesday.

Although ABC offered no further information on the timing or conditions of Nicolette Sheridan’s character, E! Online reported that the big-mouthed persona would be involved in a car accident and the actress’ representative told People magazine that the final episode featuring Sheridan would not be aired until April. In addition, the 45-year-old artist’s rep informed the publication that Sheridan “had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project.”

Edie Britt has already left the television series once. After being driven out of Wisteria Lane by the other housewives last season, Nicolette Sheridan’s character returned when the show advanced five years in the fall of 2008.

“Desperate Housewives,” one of the network’s most successful programs, stars Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria Parker.

Before taking on her role as a desperate housewife in 2004, Nicolette Sheridan was best known for her part in 1990s soap opera “Knots Landing.” She was engaged to musician Michael Bolton, but the couple announced their split in August last year. The two first started dating in 1992 and had a relationship of five years. Nevertheless, they revived their romance in 2005 and got engaged the following year.
