French President Nicolas Sarkozy visited Disneyland Paris with Italian supermodel and singer Carla Bruni this weekend, generating speculations that the two may be dating.
Nicolas Sarkozy divorced his wife of 11 years, Cecilia, just two months ago. Photographs of him and Carla Bruni visiting Disneyland Paris this Saturday with their children from previous relationships have sparked a great interest in the French media.
Bruni, 39, is a former supermodel who is currently pursuing her love for music. Though born in Italy, she lives in France with her 6-year-old son from a previous marriage.
Sarkozy, 53, has been married two times. He has two teenage sons with his first wife and a 10-year-old son with Cecilia, whom he divorced in mid-October.
While Sarkozy’s second wife is also a former model like Bruni, Bruni herself has dated famous men in the past. The blue-eyed brunette had a long-term relationship with Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger in the 1990s and has been linked with musician Eric Clapton, actor Kevin Costner and business tycoon Donald Trump.
Reuters UK reports that several French magazines will publish photographs taken during Sarkozy and Bruni’s amusement park visit.
While the president's office would not comment on the twosome’s status (if they are indeed a twosome), the daily Le Figaro, considered to be close to the president, ran a front-page image of the supermodel-singer on Monday with the fearless title: “Carla Bruni: The President's Girlfriend.”
Reuters also notes that Bruni was among the celebrities who attended a concert in October to oppose a controversial new immigration law proposed by Sarkozy which introduces optional DNA tests to verify family links.
There are also reports that the president and the supermodel-turned-singer intend to celebrate the latter’s 40th anniversary (she was born on Dec. 23, 1967) together and perhaps even extend the celebrations throughout the winter holidays.
